Homework

Dear Parent/Carer,

Homework

We are committed to nurturing every student’s academic growth, personal development, and readiness for future success. Homework plays an integral role in strengthening the skills and knowledge taught in the classroom. It provides students with the opportunity to:

  • Consolidate their understanding of key concepts;
  • Develop self-discipline, time management, and responsibility;
  • Practice independent learning and problem-solving;
  • Prepare for upcoming lessons and assessments.

Our expectation is that all students complete the homework assigned to them consistently and to the best of their ability. Homework is not an optional task, but rather an integral extension of the learning experience. Teachers design assignments carefully to reinforce classroom instruction and to provide meaningful practice that will benefit your child’s progress. All students within Years 7 to 9 receive a weekly homework task for those subjects for which they have at least two lessons a week. For all other subjects, students will receive a fortnightly piece of homework. These assignments are posted onto their Google Classrooms, along with the due date of the piece of work.

We kindly ask for your support in encouraging your child to establish good study routines at home and to take pride in the work they produce. A consistent partnership between school and home ensures that students remain on track, engaged, and motivated to achieve their best.

If at any point your child experiences difficulty with a homework task, we encourage them to communicate with their teacher so that appropriate support can be provided.

We appreciate your ongoing support and collaboration in fostering a positive and effective learning environment for your child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at eleanor.parsons@halley.latrust.org.uk

Yours faithfully,

Eleanor Parsons
